Founded in 2005 by Maria Teresa Adalid and Oswaldo Valdovinos, Astillero Teatro is a company dedicated to the design, production, staging and making of plays with puppets that are especially designed with objects though for children and young audiences. In its work, they discussed about current issues and problems being experienced during childhood.
Astillero Theater has performed in some of the main theaters of the city of Mexico and around the country, as well as in several national and international festivals such as the Rosete Aranda Festival, Festival Titerías Internacional, Mireya Cueto Festival, the 6th and 7th editions of the “Muestra de Artes Escénicas” of México City, the Festival de Teatro de Ciudad del Carmen (Campeche), among others.
The “Onomatopeyas” production is part of the “Teatro Escolar SEP-INBA” program. This production was presented at the XXI UNIMA Congress and World Puppetry Festival in Chengdu, China, in 2012; it was also given a special recognition in the XIX puppet festival in Monterrey for its outstanding scenic proposal and had three long seasons in the major theaters of the country.
Meanwhile “Chuche y la máquina de nubes” was selected by the Programa Nacional de Teatro Escolar (National Program of Theatre) SEP- INBA Mexico City for the 2012-2013 cycle and “Nadie quiere ser mi amigo” won the award for best staging in the XX Titres en Monterrey Festival(2013).
